Description
The s88-N Occupancy Detector, 16-way, combines an s88-N feedback module with integrated current sensors in a single module. This allows 16 track sections to be monitored directly for occupancy, without the need for a separate current sensor module.
Occupancy detection is carried out via integrated current sensors: as soon as a vehicle draws current in the monitored track section, this is detected and passed on as feedback information via the s88-N bus to the command station. The sensitivity of the occupancy detection can be set separately for each output, allowing the detector to be optimally adapted to different track lengths or gauges. This makes the module ideally suited for track monitoring on digital model railway layouts.
The 16 outputs are divided into two groups of eight detection sections each. These groups can either be operated independently on different track potentials (e.g. when using several boosters) or together on one potential.
The occupancy detector is designed for 2-rail and 3-rail digital systems and supports all common digital formats.
Note: The occupancy detector does not support analogue operation.

As the board has components on both sides, we recommend using our mounting kit to avoid damaging the board and to ensure the spring terminals work properly. If you do not want a mounting kit, you can deselect it in the product options.
If your command station does not have an s88-N connection (RJ45) but still has the flat (ribbon) connector, we offer a matching adapter, which you can add in the product options. There you will also find s88-N cables in various lengths for connecting the modules.
