The Modelleisenbahnclub Bielefeld e.V. (MEC) is inviting you to two open days: on Sunday, 15 November 2026, and on Sunday, 24 January 2027, 11:00–18:00 each. We at JT Digital will be there on both days.
The club
MEC Bielefeld has been around since 1972, when seven model railway enthusiasts founded it. Today around 45 members build, tinker and run trains together. Since 1978 the club has had its home in the former manager’s house of the Ravensberger Spinnerei mill on Heeper Straße 33. You can spot it from the outside by the semaphore signal arm next to the entrance. Since 2006 all layouts have run digitally, and much of what’s on them is homemade.
What there is to see
- Over 250 m² of exhibition space across three floors
- Layouts in N, H0 and 0 gauge
- Over 500 metres of track, with all layouts digitally controlled
- Faller Car-System and day-night control
Refreshments are served in the authentically furnished dining car.
A visit is well worth it for families and for experienced model railway fans who want to take a closer look. Many members are happy to explain how their layout works and to give you tips for your own.

Some of our technology is already running on the MEC’s layouts. On the H0 layouts, our s88-N feedback modules report where the trains currently are. The large H0 layout relies on them for almost all of its automatic operation. At the open days you can see what that looks like in real operation. Afterwards, you can talk to us about which of it would suit your own layout.

- Lighting Boards for your coaches
- Our new 16-way occupancy detector with s88-N feedback module
